Editing and playback
Your media is played and edited directly on your machine, never uploaded.
Caliptus isn't a cloud editor with a privacy checkbox in fine print. Here is exactly what stays local, and what transits when you turn on an optional feature.
None of these run any upload to a server, online or offline.
Your media is played and edited directly on your machine, never uploaded.
The final encode (H.264/AAC) is computed on your machine; the exported file never goes through any server.
Assistant, captions, reframe, mask, silence cutting, voice-over: every AI process runs on your device.
These exchanges are optional, limited and described here as they actually work in the code of the site and the app.
No account needed to edit. A free account is required to export: your email, your password (encrypted, never stored in plain text) and your display name. Nothing else, never your videos or projects.
Only the LUT/preset/template files you explicitly choose to share are sent, never your personal videos or projects.
The website (not the app) records page views without cookies; your IP address is hashed with a salt that changes every day and is never stored in plain text.
If you turn them on: features used, crashes and errors, version and system. A random installation identifier, never linked to your account, and never your media, projects, text or file names.
Models are downloaded once from GitHub or Hugging Face, which see your IP address. After that, the AI runs offline on your machine.
This page explains how it works in plain language. The full legal privacy policy is available separately.
