General
Is Caliptus free?+
Yes. Caliptus is completely free: editing tools, effects, AI features and export are all available at no cost.
Are my videos sent to a server?+
No. Import, editing, effects and export all run locally on your computer. Your content never leaves your device.
Does Caliptus work offline?+
Yes. Once installed, you can keep editing offline; reconnect from time to time to keep access.
When will Caliptus be available?+
Caliptus is under active development. This site is updated as soon as a stable enough version is ready for download.
Account
Do I need an account to edit a video?+
No. You can edit without an account and without uploading anything. A free account is required when you export; it also syncs your preferences between the app and the site. All processing stays on your device.
What data does my account hold?+
Only your email address, your password (encrypted, never stored in plain text) and the display name you choose. Never your videos or projects.
How do I delete my account?+
Send the request from the Contact page (Support topic) with your account's email address. We reply to that address to confirm, then the account and everything linked to it (publications, comments, sessions) is erased, within one month.
Is the account a paid feature?+
No, the account is entirely free, like the rest of Caliptus. It is required to export, but no editing feature is reserved for account holders.
Export and formats
What formats can I import and export?+
You can import common video, image and audio formats, and export to MP4 (H.264/AAC), widely compatible with modern platforms and devices.
Is there a watermark on exported videos?+
No, never, regardless of the format or length of your export.
Is there a duration or resolution limit on export?+
No artificial limit is imposed by Caliptus; the only constraints come from your machine's capabilities.
Can I export without an internet connection?+
Yes. Export is an entirely local process. You need to have signed in to your account at least once: export then stays available offline for 14 days after your last sign-in.
Local AI
Do the AI features send my data to the cloud?+
No. The AI tools, from automatic captions to reframing and background removal, run entirely on your computer. Nothing is sent to a server.
What AI tools are available?+
A local assistant, automatic short format, auto-reframe, AI mask and cutout, silence cutting, smart stabilization and AI voice-over.
Does the AI need an internet connection to work?+
No, once the models are installed, the AI tools work offline like the rest of Caliptus.
Is the AI a paid feature?+
No, all AI tools are included for free, with no premium tier.
Privacy
What stays local and what transits?+
Editing, export and all AI stay local. Only the account (email, password), marketplace publishing and an anonymous site audience measurement transit, and only if you turn them on.
Does the site use cookies?+
No. Site audience measurement works without cookies, with an IP address hashed using a salt that changes every day.
Can I read the full privacy policy?+
Yes, it's available on the Privacy page, with the details of data collected, legal basis, retention period and your rights.
How do I exercise my right to erasure?+
Contact us via the address listed on the Privacy page; your request will be processed within a reasonable time.
Marketplace
What is the marketplace?+
A free community library of LUTs, presets and templates you can install in one click, apply to any clip and share.
Do I need an account to use the marketplace?+
Browsing and installing resources is free and requires no account. An account is only needed to publish your own creations.
Are marketplace resources free?+
Yes, every marketplace resource is free, no exception.
How do I publish my own resource?+
Create an account, verify your email, then publish your LUT, preset or template from the marketplace.
